There's a man inside this monster
and he fears he'll die alone.
He wants to love but knows they'll run, so he hides behind his phone.
He's really kind and gentle and
he dreams of racing clouds.
He forgives all when they hurt him
but his mind becomes a shroud.
He panics and he shouts a silent
scream inside his head.
He watches as he horrors and
his voice fills them with dread.
They turn to bail, he bellows!
"No! Please do not run away."
He suddenly remembers naught
but night and never day.
He's all alone; he spirals down
a staircase straight to Hell.
The Devil calls an orphan trained
to heed that vile bell.
Abomination! Ogre!
That's all they'll ever see.
He tries in vain to be the best
he knows that he can be.
He cries and begs his tears
to quench the thirsty desert sand.
He meets a girl on a Cairo bus
and longs to hold her hand.
Amazingly, she's fearless and
she does not turn to run.
A monster sleeps; a man awakes
to play and have some fun.
He falls in love and wonders if
she's really going to keep.
She's not the first to flee the
danger lurking in the deep.
All goes well for a year or few,
then Satan wants him back.
He knows the beast awakes
when hunters come on the attack.
A boy entranced, a monster wakes
to save the girl he loves.
He thinks that she's the hunter
so he scratches and he shoves.
The only one who ever stayed
is headed out the door.
The boy inside just crumbles,
helpless hope upon the floor.
The Devil laughs content with his
old pet back in a heap.
Another One much greater comes
to find His dear lost sheep.
A Father calls to raise a son
in everlasting beat.
A Brother kneels to help him stand
and wash his dirty feet.
He prays that some remember there's a boy inside this beast.
He thanks the only God who sees
the beauty in the least.
